Meet the Worle Team
I qualified as a D.O. more years ago than I care to remember and have since worked in a variety of environments within optics, from large chains to independent practices and companies providing home visits.
At heart I have always felt most at home in independent practice, as I love having a close working relationship with colleagues and clients and really getting to know people and their eyes!
I wear varifocals full-time; as for most people they took me a bit of getting used and I am just road-testing the new S Series varifocal, which are brilliant! I‘ve encountered just about every situation going with glasses and this is a job where you never stop learning; it’s constantly full of surprises and great moments which is what makes it so interesting.
Dayna joined us in 2013, initially as a locum Optometrist and then as an employee. Having originally qualified in 2002, Dayna brings with her many years of experience along with her friendly, professional manner.
Dayna has become a firm favourite with many of our clients who see her for eye examinations, contact lenses and all things eye-related. She is currently on maternity leave and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of baby number 2! We will be delighted to have her back next summer once she’s had some time to be a new mum all over again.
We are pleased to be able to welcome our lovely new Optometrist, Naomi, who will be working in both practices.
Naomi has experience of working in a busy eye hospital clinic as well as in private practice, and is enthusiastic about getting to know our clients and their eyes really well. She’s also very excited to have an OCT retinal scanner at hand and is keen to see everyone - adults, children and contact lens patients.
Anne has been with us for 4 years. Having had over 6 years previous experience in optics she says she was delighted to have the opportunity to again work for an independent, friendly and professional practice!
"Since early childhood I have worn spectacles and for many years have also worn contact lenses so it is very useful to have first hand experience and understanding to pass on".
"I live locally with my young family and it is lovely to be a part of such a community and customer focused practice".
Anne is now expecting her second baby so we’ll miss her for a while when she goes on maternity leave later this year!
Abi started working for us as an Optical Assistant back in December 2014. This is her first job in Optics, though she had some administration and customer service experience, along with her creative streak and a generally cheery disposition.
Over the last two years she has gained a lot of new skills and knowledge; from learning how to carry out frame repairs; to creating new window displays to becoming a whizz on our computer system!
"I wear glasses myself and recently started wearing contact lenses, something which arguably has been one of the best learning curves in teaching me about Optics. Firsthand knowledge is great to pass on! It’s a varied job and that’s one of the things I love about it. That and the wonderful team!"
Sharon started with us in September 2015 as an Optical Assistant - a former client herself and with 14 years’ experience in healthcare-based customer service.
"I like to think I have a cheerful positive attitude and love to help and support patients and staff alike. I am learning on a daily basis and can help on repairs and advising you on choosing your new frames.
As a glasses wearer myself, I know how important it is to find something that’s comfortable as well as the right look. I’m looking forward to many happy years at the practice".
We are very pleased to welcome the lovely Gill back to Worle, whilst Anne is on maternity leave.
Gill was part of our team when Anne had her first baby and we were very sad to see her go - we‘re delighted she is able to join us once again! Gill has a lot of experience in customer service environments and is always very calm, capable and friendly, which is exactly what’s needed to keep us and our clients happy!
